Abstract
Osteoid osteoma is a benign bone forming lesion with a predilection for the cortex of the shafts of long bones, which is usually observed in the second decade of life and represents approximately 10% of all benign bone tumors. Despite its high incidence, the diagnosis of osteoid osteoma is often delayed and confused with other entities. The combination of an atypical history with an unusual location may make it difficult to distinguish osteoid osteoma radiologically from a stress fracture, Brodie? abscess, eosinophilic granuloma, and other benign tumors. We experienced a case of osteoid osteoma in the intermediate cuneiform of a 7-year-old boy. This unusual case of osteoid osteoma emphasizes the necessity of a careful history and physical examination, combined with an adequate imaging facilities. Treatment was surgical with an en bloc excision of the lesion.
